The Cabinet MERLIN engineers and technicians use and develop a range of special programs specifically for sewerage and water treatment operations. Two computer packages grouping are used : Market packages well-known in the whole trade (RERAM, CEDRE, CANOE, MOUSE-SAMBA), and program families or calculation sheets develop for macro with excel, suited to CABINET MERLIN, helping to resolve complex problems which require the handling of large quantities of data
Hydrological modelling hydrogram spreading software. Open or closed branches system networks, through free surface drainage without downstream conditions.
Sewerage systems diagnostic and design tool , this powerful software allows a fine simulation of the upstream changes in complex structure (grid, weir, storage basins, over flows, pumping
stations and controlling works).
The additional option SAMBA allows a simulation and a calculation of the pollution discharge in the environment due to a short raining or a series of rains.
CANOE draws on CAREDAS package using experience developed by LHF, and on CEDRE package, developed by the INSA at LYON. It is operated by these 2 organisations, in relation with the Agricultural Ministry and 5 French large local Authorities having a large experience in using information technology relating to sewerage system modelling. (LILLE URBAN community, LYON urban community, Department of SEINE SAINT DENIS, Department of VAL DE MARNE, MARSEILLE).

to homogeneous soil and urbanisation. elementary capacity coefficient are estimated from KOCH scale and standard coefficient calculated from weighting towards elementary surface areas.
This characteristic coefficient allows the impounding reservoir sizing, without more precise data.

Impounding reservoirs sizing software based on rains method using force, duration, frequency adjustment laws. The method consists in the balance between input/output of the basin volumes data in accordance with : Catchement area surface, mean input coefficient, concentration time, rain spatial abatement coefficient, impounded water upstream flow, force and duration considering rate of return periods. The program calculates the rain duration which saturates the reservoir, draining time, total using time of the reservoir.
Impounding reservoirs sizing software based on the volumes method recommended by the regulation n° 77-284/INT - abaque ab . Impounding waters calculation from the catchment surface area , the mean input coefficient, the spatial abatement coefficient, impounded water upstream flow, sizing for back flow periods : 2, 4, 10 and 20 years.

This tool developed by the Water Treatment department engineers and technicians, makes the sizing of low load activated sludge treatment system easier. Due to iterative calculation it allows to define the reservoir volumes to be achieved, the aeration capacity to be planed, the necessary clarification surface area, the sludge production. On one hand, the calculation is based on the raw water characteristics, and the discharge level required towards nitrogen, phosphorus and on the other hand, on well-tried sizing parameters (kinetics, applied loads, aeration reservoir concentration,...) the calculation result are iterative in order to optimise the sizing efficiency.
This tool allows to size the desanding, desoiling and biological greases treatment works as well as the whole electromechanical equipment involved.
This tool developed by the Water Treatment department engineers and technicians aims to define the optimal altimetric setting of the hydraulic works including the covering buildings.
