The department technicians and engineers (from the Head office or local branches) use a number of specifics programs relating to drinking water matters. These programs are well known within the trade and put as references through the profession. They represent perfects tools for infrastructures functioning (EAUCEANIX, PORTEAU) or for the water quality diagnosis (LPL WIN).

EAUCEANIX : hydrodynamic modelling software for drinking water meshed systems in transient flow

Hydrodynamic modelling software for drinking water meshed systems in transient flow. Calculation for the functioning of the interconnections. Reservoirs, wastewater pumping station, flow rate controller, upstream or downstream pressure stabilizer, water gate time controlled or controlled by pressure, pressure reducer. Input or output flows depending on time required. Determination of each step and on each node of the flow, the pressure , the flow velocity, the water level into the reservoirs and charts editing on colour tracer.

EAUCEANIX also benefit from a module for staying periods and simulation of concentration changes determination (disinfecting for example) into the network. This module allows tackling the potential zones of stagnant water into systems. The module « chemin » allows visualising the water route up to a certain node..

PORTEAU on WINDOWS

PORTEAU software developed by CEMAGREF, is a drawing expansion of ZOMAYET Software. It allows to carry out the simulation of drinking water systems network under pressure. It is particularly well adapted for the analysis of the functioning into water main network and drinking water periods lasting a day. Its calculation method relies on the Kirchoff's law.

the networks are designed on drawings assisted by a drawing tool software which places the length, genuine node, water areas and reservoirs. the constraints , the generalities and special temporal data can be defined then. any special case on the network can be also added like special pumps, motor driven or closing water gate, check valve... The consumption wanted can be added wherever it is needed

PORTEAU Software gives a variety of results data flow into the mains, piezometrique plans, level changes into reservoirs during a day long... These results are presented on charts or on table data.

It allows to considerably improve the investigation of a network both on practice and on theory point of views and to get information on unknown or hardly measurable data (as roughness). the setting once done , allows to study the reaction into the network with various improvement solution..

the use of the processing program can liberate the designer from tiresome calculation and to be able then to increase its work into the area of :

the calculation of hydraulic functioning into the network,
the definition of optimal solutions.

PORTEAU software also comprises a module of quality which allows the calculation for the decrease of a chemical element like the chlorine into a water system network.

LPL WIN (Version 3.12)

LPL WIN software on Windows allows through the LEGRAND and POIRIER's methods to define if it's an aggressive or a scale forming water considering the calcium carbonate rate.
After parameter input data giving the characteristics of water chemistry composition involved, the software allows the remineralisation treatments, the stability setting , the softening and getting the chart CO2total = f(Ca2+) all on simulation..
It is possible to print and record the result of each step of the simulation as well as using them on other Windows software packages (spreadsheets...)

CEBELMAIL : software package for water hammer calculation into in load networks (linear, manifold or grid), configured by CEMAGREF

It allows to size a protection, appropriate to most configurations, protection which could be :

a valve,
a surge column,
a surge tank,
a tank ARAA.

The user needs a certain practice to be able to use this software properly.
